Attleboro, MA – Comtran, a leading provider of specialty cable and system solutions, has successfully achieved a record of 4 years without any lost-time safety accidents. This accomplishment is the result of a strong dedication to safety practices and continuous improvement processes throughout the organization.
Comtran’s continued emphasis on safety awareness and practices were led by Comtran’s safety committee, comprised of both operators and supervisors. Safety initiatives implemented include: Behavior Based Safety (BBS) audits, which point out potential safety hazards and ways to correct them before an accident occurs, 6S checklists, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to increase the safety of employees, especially those working around machinery. A hearing protection program was also introduced to help minimize the effects of noise exposure and protect workers from hearing damage or loss. At Comtran, the goal is to foster a culture where employees not only feel safe themselves, but also empower employees to recognize and address potential safety concerns around them.

Joe Barry, Comtran’s President, is celebrating this milestone achievement. “Our entire team has worked hard to ensure we have a safe facility every day. Adopting new procedures and creating safer habits requires daily commitment. That commitment has resulted in a safe working environment that all employees strive to maintain, not only for themselves, but for their fellow workers and visitors to Comtran.”
